कविता

February 3rd, 2010

Really Really Long Drive

December 21st, 2009

Recently I drove from Bangalore to Delhi through Golden Quadrilateral.

Day : Bangalore->Kolhapur

Day 2: Kolhapur->Surat

Day 3: Surat->Nathdwara (Rajsamand)

Day 4: Nathdwara->Delhi

*********

I drove only during the day time to minimize the probability of falling asleep while driving :-) Roads were pretty good in most stretches except in Karnatka.

*********

If traffic police guys see an out of state registration on any car they have a tendency to stop it. If they stop you once, it is hard to get away without loosing some money. The situation is worst if you are not traveling as a large group. I had all the essential documents for my Car, but at most places they will argue that the documents are fake, an argument hard to beat. If your time is really valuable (as mine is) you will yourself try to get out of the situation by paying some money. You will encounter the cops only while passing through the major cities. A couple of tips which might come handy

- Avoid eye contacts with traffic police (so that they can’t signal you to stop)

- Drive in the middle lane or the right most lane (they are always standing on the left )

************

I wish to finish the remaining part of golden quadrilateral “Delhi->Calcutta->Chennai” in the coming year. Ping me if any one is interested to join.

Hi There

December 5th, 2009

Moving to Delhi has been a lot more effort than what I had assumed. Life is just stuck to first gear (with frequent reverses). Hope to get back to a normal life soon.

Poem Of The Year

October 17th, 2009

Dear countrymen
and women.
Spread out
But, Not with a book
or the mission
And watch greed.
Look
The cycle is unmanned
take a seat
and Spread out.
Watch your steps
and learn languages
but never forget mothers.
Work for your bread
don’t fidget
All the earth is yours
Whatever they say
Rules are.
Follow the rules
But, You are mighty enough
Even to change rules
And take your child
and your mate
Show them new shows
Music and tounges
Trees and meadows.
Learn to lay bricks
or whatever make houses
And don’t fret
Cherish that you left
the old nook
and be wiser
all colours are godly
All trees of earth
all people yours
They may feel bad
seeing you approaching
You may feel worse
They have fences
old and new
But laugh about it
Take it your new religion
Keep laughing
Violence is out
smile and wit is in
Stay healthy and mobile
Watch ur wayward friend
Ask him where he was
And what she was upto.
The long day of absence.
The wisdom is oldest virtue
And hardest achieved
And easily lost in broken hearts
So watch your pace.
Don’t rush rash or run
Make it fun.
Go to where they enjoy
But also attend their funerals.
And tell them at thanksgiving
That you thank earth
when you walk
and air when you breathe.
Why talk religion?
Read history
And some science.
You don’t need any tricks
except how to listen and see.
All colours are you are.
Whatever is your work
do it humanly.
Keep watching greed.
Its the only real vice
that seeps in
through reason’s crevice.
Read history, and human mind.
Forgive them for what they did
And thank them, really,
For they paved some paths.
Don’t talk of love, god
or brotherhood much.
Abused words are many.
Remember old jokes of our fathers
They will help.
Stories too.
Read and listen their stories
and tell yours if they ask.
Never feel you are told
to spread out.
Its nature dear countrymen
and countrywomen.
And if you don’t want to go
Let it be so
But do not stop your sons
or daughters
if they want to go.
But tell them to watch
watch every step
And tell them of law too.
Tell how your fathers
and their grandfathers
survived, with tradition.
But you be wiser
and as you ought to be
Don’t seek tragedy
but don’t run away either.
Plant trees
they have been cut
lately too many and long.
Haven’t you heard they breathe too?
Oh now i want to stop but
i am too old for desires
so i have to go on.
And i have to tell you
so much more and not so old
which my mother told.
Do you feel she is old,
and somewhat coarse
my dear countrymen
and countrywomen?
Now i must go
if you think so
but i will come like distant birds
with better planned words
till then you talk it about
and keep spreading out.

Racial Attacks in Australia

September 17th, 2009

If this would have happened in an Asian country, World leaders would have painted it as an international issue of immense importance. It could have been called the “Communist Oppression”, or “Islamic Radicalism”, or “Hindu Bigotry”. But the fact that it is “W” & “C” at play, there is much silence.

The pace at which justice is offered in Australia is highly commendable. In some of such assault cases, the accused have been tried and convicted in less than a week’s time. On the other hand, Raj thackrey, on whose behest several workers from Bihar were killed in Mumbai last year, is roaming free. We have no idea if any progress has been made on that case. The 1984 Sikh riot case, where thousands of sikhs were killed in communal protest is still doing rounds in the courts. On what could be a misuse of governmental powers, several Congress leaders have been acquitted in this case by special CBI court, when Congress government itself is in power.
