Bangalore Auto Rickshaw Complaints
Today being so bugged at Auto Guys, I tried to figure out any online complaint center for Auto Rickshaws. I could not trace and on-line complaint center, but after few google searches, I could find some phone numbers where you can register any complaint against autos. If some auto guy asks for excess fares or denies to go some where, you can call up these numbers and give the registration number of auto rickshaws.

I have personally not tried any of these numbers. I am not sure if these number are working OR if some one will pick it up (if it is working) OR if any action will be taken against the auto driver (if some one picks up the phone and listens to the complaint). But it may not be a bad idea to try. Feed these numbers to your mobile, it might help some day (a day when you are excessively bugged at life).
I have also decided to post any ass-holy acts of auto drivers on this blog (whenever I come across). I will request that you guys also to join me and enter any auto related complaints (along with Auto Rickshaw number) on THIS LINK.

I travelled from Aswathnagar to Jayanagar 3rd Block on 14th Dec. I took an auto around 10:30 AM.
Distance [as shown by other digital/non digital meters] : Avg 12.5 Kms from Aswathnagar to Jayanagar. I have been travelling the same distance for last 1.2 years.
But the Auto which i boarded today showed that 15 kms and took Rs. 90 . Normal auto fare was Rs.75. I ended up paying 2.5kms more. The meter was definitely at fault.Also he had not displayed the License board.
His Auto Number : KA 05 AA 8257.

Today i had a very bad experience with an Auto-driver. I travel daily to my work-place from (for the last 11-12 months. The distance is ~10 km and even with the changed meter/fare it should be 70-75 Rs.
This guy’s meter showed 90 - and i ended up paying him 100 since i didn’t have change and we got into an argument the gist of which was….i can complain against him if i so desire; and i can take the 10 Rs change back or leave it….
I have registered a complaint with the helpline #s mentioned above - the person who took the call seemed empathetic and assured that an action will be taken. I hope so - because you feel helpless that these people so blatantly violate laws and live without fear/shame since they know it is difficult to reprimand them.

On Sunday night, its 1:30 am, i am returning from Mysore. I took auto from Majestic bus station to BTM.
Autorickshaw (Number KA 05 C 7728) person told me that it is 1:30 so he will take double meter, i know this so i agreed.. he is having old Rs. 6 meter, he travel me across many roads that night, then when i asked him that you are going from long way, so he told me that the distance is same from where ever you go. two differen things was happening same time one he is taking the long route and unwanted roads and another is his meter is also running very fast, when i asked him, he told me there is no fault … he took 35 mins at 1:30 am such a long way he followed… you can realize, then i told him that his meter is reached 99.50 so he just before 5-10 meters restart and asked me for Rs. 240 .. hardly it take Rs. 80-90 but his meter is tunning, very fast, so when i told him that i will register complaint against him, he start arguining with me and told me come sit in the auto come with me to majestic there we will see….
after a log argument i gave him all the money as i don’t want to create more scene there .. because its late night and i need to go to office next morning ….

Yesterday (23 april 2008)at 5.20 pm i cached Auto from ISRO circle to Kormangla 1st Block(daily i do and charges like 42 or 43 rs)auto no. is KA03 A8297, in his auto no registration sheet his meter is very fast changing,in between traveling when i told him he said check my meter ,if its wrong he gave me 1000rs and stupid’s type arguing with me,i feel headic then i reply come to madivala police-station than its clear,he not agree to come and misbehaving,stop me in front of MAHARAJA hotel (meter reading 40rs usually below 33rs)which is far from my destination more than 2Km, ,than i note its Auto no. only.i tried all the Auto compliant no.,No one reply,this type of problem is now common for me because i travel by auto,anyone tell me how i stop this daily problem

Thanks Kunal….the third number works! But the female operator is comfortable in Kannada it seems, though she managed some broken English. But something is better than nothing
Please remember to NOTE the Auto number, because that is the thing one has to provide to register a complaint.

Hi, I travelled in a Auto on Sunday, 8th feb 09 at around 7:30 PM from Shivaji Nagar to Sulthanpalya, I had couple of small furnitures & cover with 3 track pants, i took out the furnitures but forgot to take the tracks. by the time i realised it was still left in the auto the driver had left. He was well behaved, i did not know if he wanted to return the same & could not do so because many people travel during the day. anyhow i have not lodged any complaint, but just thought if this could help & trying for the first time. btw i only remember the last 4 digits of the auto no. i.e 7749.

hi,
I travelled from Bannerghatta road (near the drain bridge to Prim rose road at 10 am this morning. The distance is 3.2 kms (Rs 23) Since am taking this route for quite some time, i exactly know where it turns 2 kms. I warned the auto driver that the meter is too fast, he did not bother to respond. On reaching my destination his meter was displaying Rs 29 , which means his meter is 1 km fast in this short distance itself. I noted down the number and still gave him Rs 25.
So he started to threaten me front of my office saying your office here only, so i will see you … also started using bad words.. when i told him to come to Police commissioner office at the end of the road, thats when he got the pinch.
The auto number was written in kannada, when i asked him the number in english, first he refused to give and then gave the number. So am not sure if the number he gave is right or wrong.
I tried calling all of the above numbers, but no reply!

Yesterday i boarded an autorikshaw from Total Mall Madivala at 9:45 p.m to thaverkere bus stand.The total distance 3km and the autowallah the total fare is around Rs.22. I had given him the Rs 50 note and he did not return any changed to me he said night time double meter for short distance. i challenged him this is not right but he threatened me and ran away from there.

i got robbed of all my belongings while travellin from koramangala to kr puram, near the kormngla indirangr fly over by a rick fellow who told me to js get down of the rick to check it for gas leakage n accelerated off in a flick of a sec.

I also had a similar experience with an auto KA02B8500 whose meter is exorbitantly high and for a distance from Maruti Seva Nagar to Ulsoor on Old Madras Road where the meter reading always comes to Rs.30 where I was charged Rs.40 and forced to give as he was a very rude driver. Pl. see if necessary action could be taken

May 28, 2009 I took an auto from bannerghatta road to Banshankari
Distance [as shown by other digital meters] : Avg 5 Kms.(35Rs.) I have been travelling the same distance for last 2.5 years.
But the Auto which i boarded today showed Rs. 48. The meter was definitely at fault and when i told him about this he started getting aggressive and used abusive language with me and asked me to get down on mid way.
This is the not the issue I am facing for the first time, out of 100 autos meters 85 auto meters I have noticed are at fault basically analog meters.
I tried dialling the above numbers and it worked, the person out there spoke to me very softly and listened to me very patiently, but who know if they will actually take some action on it or not. But I actually wanted to travel in the same auto 10 days down the time to see the effect.

I had a very bad experience with a guy . Sorry this is not abt Auto rickshwaw complaint . Its a complaint on a bike person. I am having TN registerered car . i was coming in a straight road , and a guy with bike was about to cross the road , but he didnt make any indicator signal , and was standing in centre of the road . when i crossed he shouted at me and asked me to go aside . i was shocked as i was going straightly . i didnt tell anything . again he chased me seeing the TN registration and blocked me in the road . He abused me , and slapped me having the only reason as my car is in TN registration.he shouted like anything. a well educated guy behaved like that . i couldnt do anything as i had TN registration . His bike number is KA 41 k 728. Its too bad to abuse and slap without making an accident even . I felt very bad . My aunty and sister was inside the car . but that guy used all abuse words . I wish him to visit Chennai once .

I was abused by an auto driver today. I immediately called 100 but no response…It was ringing and no one picked up. We took another auto and came home at 10pm….I searched in the net and found those three # mentioned on the top of this page…No one is picking up. It’s really frustrating to deal with Auto drivers in Bangalore and we don’t get help from Police when needed. By the way, the auto # is KA03 A2293.

My name Rama, i request you to take action on auto drivers and worn them yesterday 12/07/09 evening at 5:30pm near sadhasiva nagar Police Station while i was waiting to cross the road, i was standing on foot path one auto guy came near and looked at me and used all kind of bad words to me, i was wondering why this guy is using bad words and scolding me ant then i asked him, mister whom you are scolding, he is not listing he just scolded me like anything… and went very fast towards…

Dear Sir,
Today I had a bad experince with an Auto.
I daily take an auto rickshaw from there to Christ University, Dairy Circle, Bangalore.
The normal fare shown by correct meter is Rs 63.00, for a distance of 9Km.
Today 20-Jul-2009 at 9:45 AM in the Auto KA01 B921, the meter showed a fare of Rs 92.50 for the same distance.
When I informed, him about the excessive fare, he bluntly said this is the fare and you can complain anywhere you want.
The number of this Auto is KA01 B921
I suggest that if you have to take an Auto, go with the one with electronic meter. Those are much better meters than the analog ones

Hi all,
Hey please don’t waste time for registering complaints against autos. These auto walas are the f***** in India. Until you get into auto they will just keep quiet and after, they keep on raising their voice. They are mannerless, cultureless and senseless. I wish all these to go and get ruined their life will all kinds of uncureable diseases and die with all pain that they need to get. I logged more than 10 -15 complaints but no response. When I am in trouble with an auto driver went to the nearby traffic police and said he just shouted, “I have so much work and they are receiving 1000 of complaints daily”. The work that he is doing was, just sitting under a tree and chatting with a coconut seller. This happened at 2 PM at Jayanagar. So, these autos walas will be like that and police wont take any action against them. Just wish him to die with lots of pain before death and give money to that auto wala. Really u will feel so comfortable doing this and that wont affect ur mind.
keep in mind all the auto walas who are rude and harsh towards people are a group of big Mafia. So, please don’t fight with those. they are the best examples of Mother f******.
Police also unable to do tackle them just because of these mafias. Even though we log a complaint it is of no use as auto walas are 200 - 300 in number for 1 - 2 police. Ratio of Police to Auto walas is less than 0.01.
Wish him that his near and dear once ( if any, because usally these people wont have) need to suffer a lot in front of him.

Can admin or any one tell that if i complaint for a driver, do i get know the steps taken as part of my complaint by RTO or police? If the answer is no, please follow my suggestions…..
The only effective solution to stop these kind of bastard auto rickshaw drivers to do such activities is to take oath to not use these transport while one stays in BANGALORE. I am sure no one cares of our complaints else these should have been stopped or at least reduced by now. Instead these bastards beg for extra 5-10 Rs during day and in night or late night time they they do everything to rob you with extremely fast meters (my experience proved that for Bangalore autos: 1.5 Km = 3.5 Km).

At 12.30 midnight I wanted to engage an Auto after alighting from bus at Majestic, which was late by 2 hours, to go to BTM Check post.Initially Auto drivers demanded double the Meter fare.When I objected one Autochap agreed to take me for 150 fare plus Rs.20/- As it was very late I agreed and sat. When I reached Shantinagar casually I looked at the Meter which was showing Rs.65/-.Immediately I told Auto driver that the Meter is faulty. He said It is correct.However previous day from BTM checkpost to Majestic Bus stand I had paid only Rs.65/- However I told the driver that I shall report the matter at BTM check post.When I reached the spot the meter was showing Rs.102/- against the actual fare of Rs.69/-.When I checked up in the Police checkpost, none was there and I had to end up paying Rs.160/-

It was around 7:30 pm , when I took the auto to go back to my home.
1) The driver asked for Rs.50 from Kodigehalli gate to RT Nagar. (otherwise it is Rs. 30-35). Since it was getting dark , so i took the auto.. after negotiating also,he didn’t agreed for meter bill.
2) When I reached my home, i gave him Rs. 100 & was expecting Rs. 50 back , but he refused to return my money. Instead he started calling me names & threatened me that he will take me back to Kodigehalli. I told him that I will report this to POLICE, but he didn’t take me seriously though.
It is very sad state & a genuine matter of concern, if people like auto drivers have no fear of the laws of the land & POLICE.

I had a very bitter experience today and wanted to share this with you. Before i start with my episode, does posting this comment will have any actio on those errant drivers?
Name of Auto driver: Bastard #420.(i do not know what was this fucker’s original name)

It goes like this:
I with my family wanted to go to Sindhi High school, Kempapura, Hebbal from RT Nagar(Manorayana Palya).
It was 08:30 AM and we were trying hard to catch an auto who would like to come to our destination above. already 10 auto drivers did not agree to come there. Some said to give hefty amount (More that double) to go there. If i ask, that neither this is an odd time to ask double amount, nor that you will not get further passengers from the destination.(Hebbal). To this they say, if you want to go then pay else we will not come.
Finally it is this bugger’s auto(that auto number i mentioned) i stpopped and I told him that i need to go my destination place as above. He started asking the exact location, where exactly it is comming, etc. etc. I told him everything, now he asked me how much does it costed earlier when i went in auto to that place. Then i have questioned him, why are you asking so many unnecessary details, We go on Meter basis, and i will pay what the meter say. But he insisted me that i tell how much it usually costs to go there. I told him that around Rs. 35. Then he told for Double the amount also he would not come. Then i checked that actually the meter is not there at all in his auto. I simply asked him one thing, why are you wasting my time? Do not expect me to give me more, and since there is no meter in your auto, i will not come. i also told that because of auto drivers like you rest of the good auto drivers get bad name. He started abusing me, and told you have got ready fresh in this morning, wearing nice cloths, has nice job and you should pay extra/whatever we demand. I thought i am wasting my time, I told him that i would complaint againest your auto. Then he got more angry and started to abuse more, and came out to beat me.
My wife then interfered in beteween, and told the driver that please go away and we do not want your auto. Please excuse us. The auto driver kept on abusing me, and told that he will kill me.
I also told him, that please go away, and i am sorry that i had bothered you. I am not like him, to have a street fight. I have many good things to look at and not wasting my time with this Auto driver.
But he did not get go, we started to walk to look in for another auto. This auto driver started following us, and continued to threaten me. He said he is a localite, and would not entertain people from outside Karnataka to scold people like them.
Now i thought what this guy is upto? I mean what wrong did i say?, finally i got another Auto, but this driver is also asking more money (Rs. 50), i wanted to get out of that situation, so i agreed, and went back to my work.
I could not believe such a thing happening to me. I was very upset, and my wife told me that we better not to complaint against these localites. We will be always in danger. We never know.
I tried to call to complaints numbers: 080-22942813, 22943030, 22253500, but these people kept on giving new numbers but did not take my complaint.
So this is what bangalore is to offer in terms of good civilization. Thanks so much.

I think its better to have your own two weeler and car. Else use Private taxis.

Today I was at the receiving end of these autowallas.
I took an Auto from Kemp fot to JP nagar the meter was digital and the fare 105. This is fine.
While returing on the same way the auto had an analog meter and it showed a fare of 180 !!
I got down from auto and wanted to take the number but the number was written in Kanadaa…the auto waala gave the number himslef - KA 51 4006. I am not sure if this one is correct.
It has been 3 years for me in Bangalore and these are the few things I have learnt.
- Old auto drivers are better than young auto drivers.
- Never take an auto from Auto stand !! - these are generally the guys who just wait and either ask for extra money or their meter is flawed.
-If you are a girl in Banaglore than dont take auto !!
- If you are a boy and not strong built dont take auto.
- Dont take auto where no registration number is written and the plate number is in Kanadda only.
- Dont argue …it wont do anything ..however while getting off from the auto is there is a policeman around than certaily complaint.
- Watch a few Kanadaa movie…avoid autowaala who look like the villains from these movies !! ( Dont want to stereotype ..but might be of help for girls ! )
- Dont make it ugly while paying…you might regret paying but you will regret more if you get into a fight and still end up paying.
And last but not the least….if you are a group of guys and the auto waal is bad then stop some somewhere faraway from your place and beat the idiot up !!

This day, on getting down in majestic we opted for 4 autos to Ramaiah College bus stop. All 4 autos reached the destination at different times.
2 auto’s meter read as 63 bucks and 65 bucks where as the other 2 auto’s meter read as 89 bucks and 92 bucks.
We all were so tired travelling from tirupati to bangalore that we were in no state to get into argument or note down the auto numbers.
It’s really horrible. What one can trust upon is the meter reading. However if that too is malfunctioned then its really pathetic.
I wish I would have noted down the auto numbers.

I travel daily by bike. But today had to happen travel by auto.
I was surprised seeing auto guys asking 70rs for distance of 20rs i.e. from bhoruka till GE office in whitefield.N same was on the way back from tin factory to sadananda nagar.
I felt so frustated by seeing the currption & fraudisim which ppl like us cant control.

Yesterday we were leaving for dinner at around 9 pm and had to take a U turn in front of SPAR Market, Bannerghatta road, near diary circle, Bangalore. When we were taking the U turn suddenly an Auto Rickshaw tried to overtake us from the left on the U turn and banged into us. We drove our car towards the side of the road, and while doing this, the auto driver parked his auto in front of our car and then 3 auto drivers from the same auto came and started fighting. They staged this accident and started fighting with us to get money from us.
First they tried to snatch the car key, some how we avoided this from happening. then they tried to beat my friend who was driving the car, they used abusive language, and when we asked what happened to your auto show us, they said the auto had a patient and now its gone to a hospital to drop the patient.
So they literally staged this accident, removed the auto from the scene and we did not get a chance to even note down the auto number to do a formal police complaint.
Now came the worse part they started demanding Rs 8000 or else they threatened to smash our car, one of the auto driver picked up bricks from the footpath and was about to smash our car. My friends had to literally pull the driver back to avoid him doing this and we had to resort to negotiation with these bastards.
When we said we will go to police, they said they are also happy to go to them because they will be able to claim insurance to get their auto repaired. Now this is why they removed the auto from the accident place, so that if we go to the police they can show some other badly damaged auto to claim insurance.
Not only this they threatened us that they will follow us and get more auto drivers to beat us up. One auto driver even threatened to kill our kids.
While all of this was happening in the middle of the busy Bannerghatta road, for around 30 minutes, none of the public came for our help. Public were simply sitting in their vehicles and honking badly.
Finally the bastards wanted 5000 Rs for settlement else they will smash our car and leave the place as if nothing happened. we were helpless and had to cough up the money. we finally ended up paying money to these fellows.
Moral of the story is. There are criminal auto drivers in bangalore, not only do the auto drivers cheat innocent public, but also cheat people driving other vehicles. I have been cheated 8/10 times by auto drivers in terms of fare. And I have stopped using autos all together.
My friend now keeps pepper spray in the car so that he can use it when confronted by criminal auto drivers.

Dont be under the impression that all auto wallas are localites. They can speak many languages. I’m a localite and even I have been cheated by auto wallas. These auto drivers have no moral. They are all abusive and cheat everyone. I dont use autos anymore. I either go by bus or drive my bike.
The only way we can teach these guys is by avoiding use of autos.

Hi I took a rick today from new bel road to IISc afternoon 3. normally the charge is minimum. but the auto fellow took rs.70. He did not discuss this when i boarded and used slang words in kannada after i reached the place.
His auto number is C 1160. I hope this guy gets a lesson.

Hi all, I took an auto rickshaw from Jayanagar. I just got into the auto and the auto driver asked another passenger to get on, she wanted to go to madiwala. I was not comfortable rather I didn’t like the driver’s attitude. So I asked my friend to pick me up and I got down from the auto. When I got down the driver stop me and asked me to pay him Rs.17, so I just told the driver “first of all you shouldn’t have taken another passenger without asking me because I’m paying for the single ride and your auto have not even moved from the place for what should I pay you”. He said it’s my auto I can make hundred of people sit and he said “IT’S NOT YOUR FATHER’S AUTO” this is mine. He said pay or else I will hold your hand and not leave until you pay me money. So I call my husband, after that he got more abusive, he started abusing me by talking bad about my mother, father, my entire family. I felt so bad and helpless. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Auto No: KAO5 AA 4846. He was not wearing Uniform. He was wearing white kurta. (He said: I have to pay for Jayanagar to Koramagala 1st block and she was suppose to pay for madiwala)

I have took auto from majestic to queens road morning 4:45am. While getting down I was surpised that the meter is showing 30km and fare is 175 and I agreed for one and half fare. Finally the driver said 395. I have his mobile number.
