Just done watching a movie “Lord of War”
the world’s five biggest supplier of fire arms
are also the five permanent members of UN
they thrive on the armed conflicts in different parts of the world

just checked times_of_india
read about the rocket attacks in to indian border by pakistan
and BSF firing back in response
before this there had been lot of fuss about
china’s incursions in to indian border

truth is that
a lot of our tax money
is soon going to be spent
on big arms deals

what can we do than feel helpless?

we will not live helplessly forever
we will learn languages
learn about law
watch lots of movies
read lot of books
and have whisky in the cold winter nights of delhi

The War Games

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Last week Indian government signed a huge defense deal (2 billion USD) with USA. In the wake of Mumbai Terror Attack, and the war hysteria which has grown (or rather been deliberated created by two governments) between India & Pakistan, no political party has questioned this deal. In absence of the current crisis between India & Pakistan, such a deal would have invited censures from all political & financial circles. So, is it still tough to understand the war games?

It is not the USA Citizen who bears the burnt of those millions of dollars, which USA government pumps in to Pakistan as financial aid.  It is rather, the Indian citizens (and citizens of other third world countries) who have to pay the heavy prices of military funding to a country like Pakistan.

I feel that India & Pakistan should cut down their defense expenditures and spend the same money on national development and social welfare. This is only possible if the voters of two countries act mature, and elect only those politicians who can carry out national development, rather than playing to the tunes of so called world powers.

A couple of weeks back, in an official statement, CIA acquitted Pakistan leadership (i.e. Pakistani Civil Government, and ISI, and Pakistani Army) from any involvement in Mumbai Terror Attacks (though they were also suggesting an entirely opposite possibility, unofficially). Even the USA government did not show much interest in coercing Pakistani government to act against those, who were involved in the Mumbai Terror Attacks. In wake of the multi-billion Indo-American arms deal, American Government has started to put pressure on Pakistani Government to act against the culprits. The Pakistani government has also sensed the situation, and accepted that Kasab is a Pakistani citizen.

Has terrorism become a well planned marketing agent or is it just a coincidence? Recent news is that, India is evaluating the purchase of “Nuclear Defense System” from USA. Wow. Wonderful.

Let us not get carried away by Kasab’s Identity

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

This is a follow up to my earlier blog post “Kasab is a Pakistani … so what?”. I realize that some of the readers have totally mis-understood my blog post [based on their comments at different blogs where I write]. Either I did not write well enough, or they did not read well enough, or a thought process was missing [or may be a combination of all]. In any case, I felt that some clarifications were due.

———————————–

The point which I had intended to make in my previous blog post was that Indian and Pakistani governments should take some serious steps to curb the terrorism, rather than just making statements which are of no good. I am sorry if some readers were unable to understand it [though it was well evident from the writing].

Blaming each other for the Terrorism is of no use to any of the country. We here in India get a very limited view of the other side of the story. We read and hear news reports about terrorism in India being backed by Pakistan. If you look at the news reports being published in Pakistani media, you will find it exactly opposite. You will read about terrorists [operating in Pakistan] getting support from India. You will read about Indian government’s efforts of creating a war like situation by imposing false allegations on Pakistan. Indian media portrays Pakistan as the culprit and the sole evil force. Pakistani media takes same stance on India. Net effect is that people of both the countries live in an illusion, where as the political [and military too] leadership of two countries keep on carrying out their personal agendas.

Though it is true Pakistani government was behind the Mumbai Terror Attacks [and many other such attacks in past], but this does not absolve the leadership of our country from taking the responsibilities of security lapses. Yes the terrorist were trained in Pakistan and came from Pakistan. But, what was our navy and our coast guards doing when these terrorists crossed Indian waters? Were the naval and para-naval forces not alert during the night of 26th November or they do not even have enough any provision for such patrolling? Indian government is now spending more than 100,000 crore rupees [per year] on its defense budget. As the tax payers of this country, we have right to ask our leadership to protect us from terrorism - irrespective of who is supporting this terrorism. The fact that terrorists are from India, or Pakistan, or from any other country, can not be an excuse to the government. But, sadly, the people of our country do not want to think beyond what their leadership wants them to think. Looks like that Indian citizens [even the educated ones] have been been completely befooled by the invalid stance of Indian government.

If Indian Naval and Para Naval forces were careless [either by chance or by design] on that fatal night, we need to ask questions to ourselves before pointing our fingers at the Pakistan. Of course we have questions which we need to ask to our neighbor, but that should come as a second step. First we need to know why our government does not have enough provisions for deterring any terrorist attacks? Why the terrorists convicted by supreme court are still not being executed? Why strict anti-terror laws get demolished for political reasons?

Indian government has failed miserably to protect the interests of our nation. Terrorists have been attacking our country repeatedly - in all parts of the country. While hundreds of innocent people keep dieing evey month, Indian government sits quite because of political compulsion. What has our government really done to fight terror, other than raising the national sentiments by making anti-Pakistan statements? In wake of deadly Mumbai attack, every one expected central government to act hard on terrorism, but only thing they seem to be doing is to make statements. Some of you might take it as a positive steps, as in the past our government has not even done that. But does making statements really help to protect any one against maniac of terror? If at all it helps anyone, it is those members of parliament who have to face the election after a few months.

Indian government keeps repeating the same statements “Kasab is Pakistani”, “We have informed Pakistani High Commission that Kasab is Pakistani”, “We have ample proofs that there was a definite Pakistani hand behind Mumbai Attacks”, “We can act against Pakistan if they do not act against terrorist”. And Pakistani government repeatedly keeps refuting the claims of “Kasab being a Pakistani” and keeps accusing Indian government of “creating a war like situation”. If this “War of words” between India & Pakistan makes any one of you feel that your interests are being protected, you are misguided. Of what good are these statements to a person who is the victim of terrorism? These statements might give an impression that government is finally acting tough on terror, but in reality it is not. If Indian government really had any will to act against terrorist elements trained in Pakistan, least it could have done was to sack Union Minister A R Antulay [who had suggested that terrorist involved in Mumbai attack were Hindu Zionist - an approach which a section of media in Pakistan has also adopted]. The fact that our government has not sacked A R Antulay, shows governments leniency with terrorist elements. The only reason why they have been pretending to act against terror [during last few days] is that they have to face the electorate early next year.

What was this entire A R Antulay episode about - If our government can not keep its own ministers under check, then on what basis do you people believe that they will be able to keep Pakistani government under any check? Those who are really getting carried away by Indian government’s repeated claims about Kasab being a Pakistani [and this is the only thing which they seem to be doing, rather than taking some long awaited action], need to give a break to yourself  - what is our government doing to really protect the interest of our nation.

As some of the members here have pointed out, not looking in to Kasab’s nationality will be foolish. It may be true. But will it not be even more foolish if we expect the Pakistani government to act against terrorists, just because we have informed them that Kasab is a Pakistani? Many people here seem to believe that “Pakistan is running Terrorist Camps” is a breaking news. It is a well known fact world over. Do not get too much thrilled if you have heard it for the first time. It may be a news for you, but it is not for the Pakistani Government. So do not get carried away by the news stories circling around. Do you feel that Pakistani government is unaware of the terrorists camps being run by themselves in their country, and passing this useful information [that they have been training the terrorists] to them will be a good deterrent to them to close down all the terror hubs? Are we not making a fool of ourselves by asking Pakistani Government to wake up. They are already awake, it is us who have been sleeping - success of Mumbai Terrorist attack is a proof of that.

By the way, for those who feel that Indian governments claim that Kasab is a Pakistani will deter the Pakistani governmet, I have a news, Pakistani Police has yesterday arrested an Indian in Lahore. Pakistani Police has recovered fake currency and fake identity cards from his possession. He is the the main suspect behind Wednesday’s Bomb Blast in Lahore. He is a Hindu by religion and Pakistani Police claims that he was trained in India for carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan.

I feel sad when I see that leaders of both the countries are busy protecting their petty self interests, whereas the public of both the countries continues to suffer. The fact that emotional issues being raised by the selfish leaders are sufficient enough for the people to forget about their sufferings is even more sad.

Pakistan’s Anti-Kasab: Indian Spy Arrested

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

After claiming a definite Pakistani Hand behind Mumbai Terror attacks & informing Pakistani government about Kasab’s [the lone captured terrorist during Mumbai Terrorist attack] Pakistani Origin [though the Pakistani Government never accepted it], the ball is back in to India’s court. Pakistani Police has on Wednesday night arrested a Indian Spy from Lahore.

As per a news report in “Dawn” [leading Pakistani English news paper], the suspect, identified as Satish Anand Shukla, is believed to have been involved in bomb blast in the Bahawalpur House [in Lahore] earlier in the day. Police has recovered fake identity cards and other material from his possession. Shukla is claimed to have served in the Indian High Commission in the UK for three years.

It will be really interesting to watch how Indian Government reacts to these claims. Will they also express ignorance [as Pakistan has done regarding Kasab] or will they try to investigate any truth behind Pakistani Claims.

Kasab is a Pakistani … So what?

Friday, December 19th, 2008

I have been hearing this debate over the citizenship status of Kasab . India keeps insisting that he is a Pakistani and Pakistan keeps refuting it. What point does the Kasab’s citizenship status prove or dis-prove?

…..

The Mumbai Terror strike was not possible without a strong support from elements within India. Indian investigating agencies have already arrested and charged many Indian citizens in connection with Mumbai attacks. So, what if a non-Indian too is involved. If Kasab is a Pakistani, how does it prove that Pakistani government had backed the Terror strike? If we go by the same logic, it will mean that even the Indian government was backing the terror strikes, as Indian citizens were involved too.

….

Raising such petty issues is a tactics by two governments to divert attention from real burning issues. While Indian government is facing strong criticism from the sections with in India for its leniency against terror outfits, the Pakistani government is under strong international pressure to act against the terrorist networks being run from Pakistan. Governments in both the countries are trying to correlate terror with the long-term enmity between two countries. Both the governments are trying to raise issues related to national pride & pretend to its people that they have kept the upper hand during the conflict. This might help the two governments thwart the public ire and they might get some breathing space. But the truth will remain that the leadership in both India and Pakistan have failed miserably in serving the interest of its citizens.

….

Terrorists have no or country or religion - Terrorist are mere terrorists - they are neither Indian nor Pakistani. They are neither Hindu nor Muslim.

……

The strength of human race remains in the fact that all human beings are inclined to work towards a common good. We might come from different castes, religions and countries  and we might have some differences given our diverse origins, but on a higher plane we all are same. I am convinced deep inside, that each human being is driven by forces and instincts to help others and create happiness.  Some times we are overtaken by momentary fits of hate and destruction, but the fact that humanity is only growing stronger is a proof that good always prevails.

“War on Terror” & “The Imperialism”

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

USA’s so called “War on Terror” has resulted in the dramatic rise of Islamic Terrorism in last one decade. The world under threat of “Evil Forces” is probably the best environment which Imperial forces within USA (which implies the few rich and wealthy rulers of the country, not the ordinary USA citizen) would always want to exist.
…..
The USA is a powerful country and the recognition of any power relies on the co-existence of a strong (but slightly weaker) enemy. An enemy who can be branded as the “Evil Force” to arouse the fear in human soul. For it is the fear which drives human beings to act in most unnatural ways. It is the fear which kills the rational ideas in men and makes them blind to the atrocities being inflicted on them by their protectors & saviors. During the cold-war era, “Russian Imperialism” was the “Evil Force”, that threatened the existence of entire human race. After the collapse of Soviet-Russia, there had been a void of such an “Evil Force” and recognition of “American Power” had suffered.

…..

China was a force strong enough to fill up the void created after collapse of “Soviet Russia”, but the political interests of Chinese government were very different from that of Western Powers. China’s national policies were not being formed by Imperial Forces, but by the force committed to betterment of ordinary people. For years the USA (and other Western Allies) have tried to implicate China (claims of human-right violations, and complaints about lack of freedom to the Chinese people) in to a war-zone, but China always responded in a diplomatically accurate way, It pressed pressed its will & commitment to the sovereignty and at the same time showed a resolve of not interfering in other countrie’s personal affairs. As a consequence, the western propaganda about “Chinese Evil” has subdued during last one decade, and it has been replaced by “Fight on Islamic Terror”.

…..

In wake of the Western Propaganda and policies, today every Muslim carries an image of a Terrorist and every “Social or Political Islamic Organization” bears an image of that “Evil Force” which is a threat to the existence of Humanity. Naturally, the USA (and other western allies) are the “kind spirits” and the “saviors” who have pledged on themselves the role of saving the humanity. Out of this responsibility of being a protector, comes the right of defining the social, political & economic policies of every country in the world. “Economic Policies” is the keyword here, as it is vital in satiating the greed & hunger of the imperial forces which are bent upon creating a fearful world for their self-interests.
…….

When any one talks to you about “Islamic Terror”, first thing you should question yourselves is “who invented the idea of Islamic Terrorist forces”. Second questions you should ask yourself is “who is trying to educate you about the prominent threat poised to humanity by Islamic Terrorism”.

- Both the above questions have a common answer.  So let us stop getting divided on religios lines and unite ourselves as a human force. The religious leaders raging the religious wars often say that, “The Religious commitment comes before the National Commitment”. We must also realize that “Commitment to Humanity comes before the Religious Commitment”. Let we all be committed to love & peace. Let us not get misguided by imperialist propagandas and let us not give control of our nation’s “social, political & economic policies” to the fear-mongers.

Jundallah

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Jundallah is a terrorist group fighting for the rights of Sunni Muslims in Iran. It does not strike me that this group has ties with Al-Qaida. But, what strikes (or rather shocks) me is that this terror group is claimed to have ties with (and support from) USA Government.

- It is interesting to know that a government which has invaded two sovereign countries (Iraq & Afghanistan) in last decade under aegis of “Fight against Terror”, itself supports terrorist groups (and too be more precise, Islamists terror groups).

- It is even more interesting to note that Jundallah has support from both USA government and Al-Qaida. Does it not make Al-Qaida and USA as allies?

*************

- We all are well aware that Taliban and other Islamic Terror groups were a brain child of CIA. The concept had originated during cold-war and was aimed at fighting the Russian Empires in a covert way. So, thats not a news for any one of us. The news (from last one decade) is that the Islamic Terrorism has back-fired after the collapse of Soviet Russia. The terror groups have grown out of CIA control and the USA (and other Western Powers) itself has become the target of terror attacks. But a close look at the realities like “Jundallah” create a suspicion about the claim that Islamic Terror has  grown out of CIA control. Is it that the CIA is just using the “terror groups” as part of a strategic propaganda against “Arabs” & “Middle-Eastern powers” who have emerged as strong political and financial forces in an oil-based economy? These forces are USA’s greatest financial rival (after collapse of Soviet Russia) in modern world.

- USA is a democratic country and claimed to be a great proponent of Democratic Ideas. But it does not reflect well in their actions outside USA. USA has on so many occasions destabilized Democratically Elected Governments for political and Monetary Gains. USA has also endorsed Military & other non-democratic form of governments on several occasions for their petty self interests. USA has also funded Islamic Terror groups in Past to create unrest in different parts of world. But the idea that they could still be funding a Islamic terror outfit while raging wars in different parts of word on the name of “Fight against (Islamic) Terror” is truly shocking.

*****
Here is a news item claiming that Iran Government has sufficient proof about USA/UK support to Jundallah. If the claim is true, then we all must wonder - what will happen to this world? Has the men in west really become too corrupt and blind in power struggle? I hope that all this is not true.

The news we need to pay attention to

USA backed terrorism?

- While FBI has laid helping hands, truth may not come out. Or may be FBI has laid his hands lest truth may come out.

….
A few good men.

- India will survive despite the dirty politicians. Thanks to the patriots like Sandeep.
