The Types of religion
Sunday, November 30th, 2008As described by “Osho” in “Book of Understanding“, the religions are centered around:
(1) “Ignorance”.
(2) “Fear”.
(3) “Greed”.
(4) “Logic”.
(5) “Intelligence”.
(6) “Meditation”.
(7) “Enlightenment”.
…
No religion is centered around just a single force, but its driving forces generally overlap. For example a religion which is driven by “Ignorance” will use “Fear” and “Greed” to maintain its followings. The religion which preaches “Enlightenment” as the ends, will use the path of “Meditation” to reach the ends.
….
Ignorance: All unknown can be attributed to God. Since such religions are based on ignorance, the religious authorities are afraid of knowledge. So this kind of religion insist on fundamentalism. It does not allow for the co-existence of any other religion lest its own existence might be under threat.
Fear: They have invented the idea of hell.
Greed: The have invented the idea of heaven.
Logic: The theologists.
Intelligence: The “Sat”.
Meditation: The “Chit”
Enlightenment: The “Anand”.
….
A man devoid of fear, never cares about Hell and a man devoid of greed never cares about heaven. A religion which talks about hell and heaven is for the weak souls.
